What Is It?
- L-Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in human muscle and plasma. Over 60% of the free-floating amino acid in skeletal muscle cells is made up of L-Glutamine. It is also a primary nitrogen donor; it moves nitrogen around in the body where it’s needed. Maintaining a positive nitrogen balance is absolutely necessary for building muscle.
L-Glutamine Uses
- Boosts Immune System: L-Glutamine improves ability to manufacture the white blood cells that fight infection.
- Prevents Muscle Breakdown: L-Glutamine enables the body to maintain constant blood sugar levels. This state of blood sugar balance optimizes brain function since the brain utilizes glucose (blood sugar) as a primary source of fuel in addition to oxygen.
When the brain has adequate glucose, muscle stores of glucose are preserved. When you don’t eat enough complex carbs to meet your energy needs, the body will breakdown stored sugars from muscles to feed the brain. The net result is fatigue, stress, and loss of muscle.
